Production of bio-ethanol by consecutive hydrogenolysis of corn-stalk cellulose

نویسندگان

چکیده

Current bio-ethanol production entails the enzymatic depolymerization of cellulose, but this process shows low efficiency and poor economy. In work, we developed a consecutive aqueous hydrogenolysis for conversion corn-stalk cellulose to produce relatively high concentration (6.1 wt%) without humin formation. A yield (ca. 50 is extracted from corn stalk using green solvent (80 wt% 1,4-butanediol) destroying structure lignin. The first hydrothermal step uses Ni–WO x /SiO 2 catalyst convert cumulative (30 into polyol mixture with 56.5 C% ethylene glycol (EG). original then subjected subsequent selective aqueous-phase C–O bond bioethanol (75% conversion, 84 selectivity) over modified hydrothermally stable Cu catalysts. added Ni component favors good dispersion nanoparticles, incorporated Au 3+ helps stabilize active 0 -Cu + species. This multi-functional catalytic provides an economically competitive route cellulosic ethanol raw lignocellulose. formation has been developed.

Synthesis of Bio-ethanol from Corn Stalk by Fermentation Process

Ethanol synthesis from corn stalk through fermentation process was studied. The ethanol produced was studied by various enzymatic treatment temperature and different feedstock loading in term of weight. The result shows that the highest concentration of ethanol contained in the sample was 48.90% at enzymatic temperature of 50°C. The temperature for optimum enzyme treatment have been identified ...

Dissolving Pulp (alpha-cellulose) from Corn Stalk by Kraft Process

Corn stalk can be used as an alternative non-wood raw material to produce cellulosic dissolving grade pulp. In this work, the potential of corn stalk in the production of dissolving pulp (alpha-cellulose) was investigated. It was collect ed from a corn stalk farm of Kermanshah, Iran. The sequences of experimental work were: water and acid prehydrolysis at 160˚C for 30min, followed by Kraft pulp...

Valorization of Corn Stalk by the Production of Cellulose Nanofibers to Improve Recycled Paper Properties

Corn stalk, an agricultural waste, was valorized by the production of cellulose nanofibers (CNF), which were tested for improving recycled paper properties. CNF from eucalyptus kraft pulp (E-CNF) was used as a reference. Addition of 0.5% wt. CNF produced from corn organosolv pulp (C-CNF) to recycled paper increased the tensile index by 20%, whereas the same improvement with E-CNF was achieved a...

Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNCs) from Corn Stalk: Activation Energy Analysis

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were isolated from corn stalk using sulfuric acid hydrolysis, and their morphology, chemical structure, and thermal stability properties were characterized. The CNCs had an average length of 120.2 ± 61.3 nm and diameter of 6.4 ± 3.1 nm (L/D = 18.7). The degree of crystallinity of the CNCs increased to 69.20% from the 33.20% crystallinity of raw corn stalk fiber, wh...
